What to do during normal business hours
If your pet passes away at home during business hours, call your Veterinarian.
• We will pick up your pet from your Veterinary Clinic without extra charges. (Would be good to have the radius of the pickup area. Like: the DFW area. 30-mile radius from Pet Rest
Memorial Park, etc.)
• You can bring your beloved pet to us. All you need to do is contact us and schedule an appointment at 972.495.1858.
Our answering service is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Do not hesitate to contact us 972.495.1858.
What to do after business hours
If your pet passes away at home after business hours, we will be unable to pickup or receive your loved one until the following morning of the next business day.
Steps to take until you can make arrangements
The most important step is to make sure your pet’s body is stored properly. Keep your pet’s body in a cool environment. Here are a few options:
• Use a refrigerator
• Use a freezer
• Use an ice chest or a container. Place ice bags on and around your pet’s body until you are able to contact someone during normal business hours.
If your pet is too large to keep as mentioned, do the following:
• Place a blanket and/or a plastic sheet on your concrete garage floor or driveway. This helps to protect the area and in moving your pet later.
• Place your pet on the blanket and/or plastic sheet. Place bags of ice on top of the pet until the following morning. You can also so cover your pet to help keep in the cold.
• Remember big pets are heavy. Place them where you or others are able to remove the body with little difficulty.
Following the above steps will help you until you are able to call your Veterinarian or bring your beloved pet to us.
